Animal Rescue Kefalonia (ARK) is located on the edge of Argostoli, the main town on the island of Kefalonia. One of the questions that we get asked all the time is “How do we get to Animal Rescue Kefalonia”, so hopefully, these directions will help clear that up.
Where is Animal Rescue Kefalonia (ARK)?
Animal Rescue Kefalonia (ARK) is located in the industrial area of Argostoli. You can now find ARK on both Google Maps (see the map below) and also Waze which definitely makes getting to ARK easier!
Key landmarks to look out for are the AVIN service station/garage on the right as you’re coming to the edge of Argostoli. Once you see this you know you are close to ARK. Continue a short distance until you reach a large junction in the road and you should see the Kefalonia Police Station on your left-hand side.
Keep going straight (with the police station on your left) past some large industrial shops until you reach the end and then follow the road round to the left then to the right. At this point, the road becomes more of a dirt road so don’t think you are lost! Continue down this dirt road for a few minutes (about 250m) and you’ll see ARK on your right, usually with some very excited dogs waiting to welcome you.
When can you visit the shelter?
Animal Rescue Kefalonia is open 7 days a week from 10:00-19:00 in the summer and from 10:00-17:00 in the winter. Visitors are welcome during these times when someone will show you around and all the dogs and cats are always so excited to have people come to visit them.
If you’d like to stay longer or come back another day to help out and volunteer at ARK, then you will be very welcome – please see our page about volunteering at the shelter for more details.
When visiting ARK, please bring water with you as the closest place to buy refreshments is the AVIN service station mentioned above.
